On this page we will give you a few tips for bladder control:
- The idea behind the training is to let your child feel s/he is in charge of the process as much as possible.
- Going to the potty in a regular schedule can help training.
- Keep them company while they are sitting on the potty. You can read to them or just talk. You might want to keep books about potties in the bathroom!
- Remember to praise every step of the progress: sitting more than 10 seconds is a progress at first.
- Turn the water on and let it run for while they sit.
- Know when to stop;don't let them sit on the potty for too long, otherwise, it becomes a game!
- The more your child will drink, the more s/he will need to urinate and respond to body signals. Occasionally say to your child, "It's time to try now."
- Use a timer to remind your child when it's time to go potty.
- Keep in mind that even after your child mastered the bathroom procedure s/he still may wet their pants during the day for several weeks or months.
